Missing Cat

Fierce OllieI am bereft. My Olive aka Ollie is missing. We haven’t seen her all morning, and my partner who works from home reports that he hasn’t seen her in the midday. She’s not in her usual haunts: the bookcase, the sock drawer, the back of the closets, under the bed, wedged between the sofa and the wall, on the dog’s bed, on my partner’s desk or chair… She’s unseen.

Ollie was immortalized by my friend the multi-faceted genius Mike Castleman as an LOL cat, with the requisite I’m in Yr X Y-ing Your Z format.

LOL Ollie

Ollie is about eight years old, rather plump, all black except for a white patch at her collar, yellowish eyes. Very friendly towards humans, nasty to other especially our other black cat (we have two) and our big white dog. She was found as a stray by a friend in Woodside; I was so happy to restore her close to her home over a year ago in Sunnyside Gardens. She was a nippy one at first; I used to fear for my socked feet and perched atop furniture to avoid her nibble attacks. She’s mellowed with age, still gives me occasional love bites, more love than bite.

Have you seen her?

Coy OllieLast seen last night when I came home from work and ran around the front yard with the big white dog. She, as usual, yowled to be let out. I am most certain she did not slip out on me then. She hasn’t scratched at the bedroom window, as her usual routine, this morning. Nor, has she sat on the kitchen table atop the newspaper, when I ate breakfast. She didn’t appear to eat her food I set out.

She has a collar with purple butterflies, and a tag with her name, my address, and phone. Please, let me know if you see her. I miss her.

Update: Within minutes of posting this entry, my partner texts me that Ollie was found, sleeping on top of the bedroom bureau. Thank you, blog buddhas! Bedroom bureau duly noted as a new Ollie hiding spot.
